Introduction:
Vision board… What is this sudden craze about these vision boards? If you are following Self-help influencers, you might have already mastered this crazy yet effective concept called a “vision board.”
To add it more, It’s already 2024. The start of the new year is always the best time to make a vision board. So yes, I will teach you how to make and use your 2024 vision board.
It’s only recently that I discovered a vision board. When I went deep into the research and found all the fantastic things people experienced through this, I immediately created one.
Vision boards are boards that are beautifully and aesthetically plastered with your dreams, aspirations, and goals. And you place that board somewhere where you can see it regularly.
“But Nisha, I don’t want anyone to see my dreams.” If you have this in mind, I have better solutions, which we will discuss in this blog.
So get ready with your cup of coffee or hot chocolate (I’m having my tea while writing to you). And snuggle inside your cozy blanket. And get ready to learn how to bring your dreams in front of your eyes.
What is the definition of vision boards?
When I wanted to answer this myself, I hit Google. So here’s what Google gods have to say.
Vision boards are collections of pictures and inspiring quotes that visually represent your dreams. So many people claim they achieved ten goals from their vision board. But should you believe them? Is it real? More importantly, is it scientifically proven? Let us get into it.
What is the Science Behind Vision Boards?
So many famous people like Steve Harvey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Oprah Winfrey claimed they have vision boards. The best part is, yes, it worked for all of them.
Just like you, I was also not satisfied with this. Just because it works for famous people doesn’t mean it can work for you, right? That’s when I went to check for some scientific proof. And it legitimately shocked me.
Dr. Tara Swart, author, lecturer, and neuroscientist, has a good answer. Let us not forget the vision board has “vision” in it. Humans are visual animals. We grasp things 60,000 times faster in images than in text. 90% of the things in our brain are visuals and pictures. That’s why we remember the movie’s story more than the two paragraphs in our history book.
Our brain does something called “value-tagging.” When it constantly sees something repeatedly, it filters it out and sends it to your subconscious. The other things quickly get rejected because they are unnecessary from our brain’s point of view.
Things that go unnoticed can also be imprinted in our brains when they are fed through images, especially when you look at your vision boards at night.
Vision boards are continuously reminding your memory about your goals. It is also a form of self-realization.
I recently read this fascinating study about our thoughts. This study explains how our brain can remember things if it constantly sees them. Our brain creates neural pathways like a pattern when it gets introduced to something new. If you don’t remember it for 48 hours, the brain deletes that memory, and the neural pathway gets empty.
If you consistently imagine or see that thing, it eventually strengthens in your brain. It makes you happy and creates an emotional connection with your dreams.
When you constantly look at your vision board, the visual cortex (the visual part of our brain) becomes active. It enhances the strength of your goals.
What does a vision board do?
Vision boards help you visualize your dream life. As you already know, our brain grasps images more than texts. “A picture is worth more than 1000 words”.
When your dreams and goals get into shape, and you see them continuously, your brain forces you to go and win that goal.
You can use a vision board to manifest your dream. Your dream life, car, or anything can go into your vision board. Sometimes, a vision board can be your therapist.
Vision boards help you get clarity about your aim. When you seriously sit down to create a vision board, you know what should go in and out. You know what should be the priority and what can go into the bin. It will let you concentrate and maintain your focus.
What is the purpose of a vision board?
Have you ever had a goal that you quickly forget in a day or two? For example, you decided to eat healthy from tomorrow. So you went to Dominos to eat that last junk food of your life. Then you forget about your aim.
It happened to me a lot of times. I forget my goal and only remember it after weeks or months. Vision boards help you fight that.
When you have a bad day, the positive words in that vision board give you that much-needed fresh breath.
Vision boards also help you manifest things. Putting your dreams in front of you as an image will push you, and you will be determined to achieve your goal.
What is a vision board example?
Vision boards are the physical representations of your deepest desires and goals. For example, to lose weight, you can cut pictures of gym workouts, healthy eating, and healthy body pictures from magazines or print them down from Pinterest. And paste it on your board.
Some Vision board examples are:
Relationship– Picture and positive affirmation of happy couple, healthy family
Career– Image of your dream office or dream job, Quotes that will motivate you to work towards that goal
Personal Growth: Books that will help you to reach your personal growth or image of your dream lifestyle.
Finance– Your dream purchases, financial abundance mages
Travel– Passports, World map, your dream destination images.
Don’t worry. We will detail how you can create your dream vision board.
What do you write on a vision board?
The words that go into your vision board should be strategic. You can’t put random quotes or positive words just like that. Put words that have a deep connection within you. Those words that moved you in a good way. Those words trigger your goals and motivate you to work for them. You can use the following examples:
- Positive affirmations– Write positive affirmations that are related to your goals in the present tense
- Quotes– Don’t just write any random quotes. Write deep, moving quotes that make an impact in your mind. You can pick quotes from people who inspire you, books, etc.
- Mantras– Mantras are powerful sentences that encapsulate your goals.
- Feelings/emotions– The emotion you will feel when you achieve those goals
- Power words– One word that captures the essence of your dreams
- Gratitude– Express your gratitude as if you achieved it.
Does a vision board work?
Does the vision board work? Congratulations, you are no different if you also searched for this.
A Lot of us, including me, want answers to those questions. It might or might not make you happy.
Vision boards’ effectiveness/success rate varies from person to person. Not everyone who creates a vision board achieves their dream (more on that later).
A TD Bank survey found that 63 percent of the 500 small business owners used Vision Board to develop and map their business plans.
Interestingly, 82 percent have almost achieved 50 percent of their vision board goals. But how and why?
Dr. Barbara Nusbam, also a TD Bank partner on the research, said, “Images connect us more immediately and emotionally to our personal and financial goals, and our setting and achieving them.”
To make the vision board come true, one has to work hard on one’s mindset, beliefs, and actions to achieve that goal. You won’t achieve it if you don’t work for it.
In her podcast, Mel Robbins said, “If you are simply putting pictures of beach houses and million dollars and simply staring won’t work.” And I highly agree with her. One can’t simply achieve a million dollars if he doesn’t work for that 1000 dollars.
One trick I learned from Mel Robbins is to make your vision board front and center instead of bigger goals that are far away. Make your vision board an action board that can be a stepping stone to achieve that big goal.

What is the Feng Shui Vision Board?
The Feng Shui vision board is a collaboration of Feng Shui principles and vision board. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice. People use Feng shui to harmonize with the environment. There is little difference between a regular and a Feng Shui vision board.
People use a Bagua map to create the Feng Shui vision board. Now again, the Bagua map divides your home into nine areas. And each area in your room means each area of your life.
Feng Shui is comprised of 5 elements. Wood (wealth, family), Fire (reputation), Earth(relationship, health, knowledge, spirituality), Metal(children, creativity, travel), and Water(career). Before creating a Feng Shui board, choose an auspicious time.
Be mindful and precise while creating a Feng Shui vision board. After creating, activate the energy daily by spending a few minutes visualizing and focusing.

How do you make a vision board for manifestation?
I love creating vision boards. We have so many goals that sometimes we forget any of them. If that is you, making a vision board will help you keep on track.
Creating vision boards can be fun, engaging, and satisfying. You will instantly get motivated to work towards your goals.
There are some rules you have to remember while creating a vision board. Let me take you through how to create your dream vision for manifestation.
- Write down your goals
- Gather materials
- Get a beverage
- Keep the environment soothing
- Get into the right mood
- Arrange and organize
- Activate the energy
- Place it
- Visualize and meditate
- Track, review, update
1. Write down your goals:
Writing goals should be your first step. Don’t miss this one. You have to be very relaxed and calm while creating a vision board.
Have multiple goals. Relationship, Health, Finance, Career, Travel, anything. Write down your goals and prioritize them according to their urgency and value.
The intentions should be clear and pure. You should not manifest anything wrong for you or anyone. This might backfire.
2. Gather materials:
This is the fun part. Now that you have set goals take the necessary materials from your bag. Look for magazines, newspapers, old books, or print images that align with your goals.
You also need scissors, colored paper, boards, sticky notes, and pens.
3. Get a beverage:
This is important. You can take a beverage of your choice.
4. Keep the environment soothing:
Don’t work in a messy environment. It will clutter your mind and lose your focus. Work in an organized place. You can read more about how to organize your life here. You can even play some soft, relaxing music in the background.
5. Get into the right mood:
If your mind is cluttered or you are not in focus mode, don’t do it. I want you to be in a good, happy, and motivated mindset. You are creating a vision board of your dreams. It is a huge decision. So keep your mind organized and put through.
6. Arrange and organize:
Start preparing the board now that you are all set and have materialized. Cut the necessary picture. You can also write motivating, positive affirmations and powerful words to make it more powerful.
Organize and place everything in the right place. Stick to it according to your needs.
7. Activate the energy:
Now that you have created it, be satisfied with it. Run through your hands and become proud. Now, start living the life of that vision board. Visualize and feel the emotions you might go through if you have all of that in your real life.
8. Place it
Place it somewhere you can see often. You can keep it ignorant of TV or in your bedroom. You have to see it regularly.
9. Visualize and meditate:
Daily spend sometime visualizing everything. You can meditate for a few minutes to align your energy and emotions. Keep your mind away from clutter and enjoy the process.
10. Track, review, update
Start working on your goals. Don’t stuff yourself. Be straightforward and transparent with your intentions. Track your performance. Do a weekly or bi-weekly review. If you achieved something from your vision board, delete that from there.

How do you use your vision board for manifestation?
Vision boards are a powerful tool to keep yourself focused and motivated. In Mel Robbin’s words, Manifesting is not just hoping and wishing. Manifesting trains your mind, body, and spirit to do the work.
One trick to use your vision board for manifestation is creating an action place. Instead of manifesting for your dream house and fulfilling your bucket list, manifest for the hard things and actions that will get you there.
Let us see how you can use a vision board for manifestation.
1. Set clear goals- Intentions should be your prime focus. Set mindful goals. Goals that are front and center instead of far away goals.
2. Use positive affirmations- Incorporate action words, power words, and positive affirmations that will move you towards achieving the goals.
3. Place it somewhere you can see- Always place the vision board where you can see it often.
4. Activate your energy- Make sure you activate your energy with the right mindset. Meditate daily and live that dream life inside your brain for a few minutes every day.
5. Visualization- Visualization techniques like relaxing, creating mental images, engaging emotions, and practicing daily will help you manifest things quickly.
Conclusion:
Vision Boards are a powerful way to manifest your dreams. Creating a Vision board will reduce the distance between you and your dreams.
Be strategic while making your vision board. Preparing action plans and manifesting the hard work and frustrations you will go through when you are working is also essential.
